Sometimes I just have to share the amazing stories that I hear while out in the wild and this is one of them that had to be told.
This morning, I taught a Yoga session at a winery. It was a first-day back-to-school gathering of momma bears looking for some peace, grounding, and balance. Today, I focused on the sacral chakra.
As parents, we naturally tend to identify more with our ‘stations’ or ‘roles’ in life and forget to nurture who we really are – our true, amazingly unique selves. When we spend so much time living in our role as caretakers, we unintentionally move further from ourselves. This can create some major blockages in our chakras, namely our sacral chakra. Summer break from school? Oh yea, that will do it.
The Mom
Next, onwards and upwards to wine slushies. I joined a couple of my long-time girlfriends/fellow mamma bears for a peach bellini wine slushie. We discussed our summer, life transitions, and of course…our teenage sons. The general consensus…teenage boys and parenting can be rough, wonderous but rough.
The prompting of this storytime musing came from my fellow kindred spirit, single momma bear that I won’t name.
Here is how it went. Mom signed up her senior son to partake in the ceremonial “senior parking space painting” activity.
The Son
Her son wasn’t super crazy about the idea but agreed to do it – with mom’s encouragement. Just like one of my teenage boys, he wasn’t super big into the social scene at the high school and identified more with his ‘introverted’ nature. Both my friend and I were very much the same in high school and ‘got it.’ Prior to the event, mom had to choose a timeslot for her son to paint his parking spot. Her son was not in agreeance with the timeslot chosen. Mom explained that it was really something he should consider as there was a slew of parent volunteers that would be there at designated times to assist.
Son ultimately decided to paint his parking spot after dark, on his own time. Hey, at least he went – right? So here comes the cool part.
The Fox
While working hard on painting his parking spot, he had a visitor.
The fox.
Now, I don’t know how much you align with spiritual guides or spirit animals but you’ve got to acknowledge this is pretty amazing. A beautiful, plump, and healthy urban fox decided to keep son company – and by the picture, you might even think this fox was holding space for him. It wasn’t just a quick visit either.
Holy wow, right?
I had half expected this story to go a completely different direction from how it had started but no…this story or experience ended in the most magical experience. Mamma bear even acknowledge, with a smile, that if she would have MADE her son go paint his parking spot according to schedule, this would not have happened.
I leave you to draw your own interpretation but I will leave you with this.
